Guidance

Guidance in energy transition

We guide your company through every step of the energy transition, with solutions that really work.

At POSETRON, we believe that guidance towards sustainability is more than just installing solar panels or a battery. It's about smart energy management, tailored to the unique way your business works.

That’s why we combine in-depth technical knowledge with a thorough approach based on data and systems. We analyse your current consumption, see where the biggest gains can be made and propose tailor-made solutions: from energy storage and control to optimising the use of renewable energy and exploiting energy market opportunities.

With our proprietary software and real-time energy platform, we are fully committed to transparency, efficiency and flexibility - today and towards tomorrow. Together, we make your business future-proof.

Energy market vs Energy contract

We share our insights with you. Find more info on energy contracts and your role in the energy market here.

With a fixed-rate contract, you pay the same price for electricity or gas. This means you won’t pay more if prices rise. But you won’t benefit either if prices fall. The fixed rate is in place for a fixed period of time, for example 1 year.

Variable tariffs change at least twice a year and sometimes more often. As with a fixed energy contract, you pay an instalment amount based on your expected energy consumption over the next 12 months. With falling energy prices, you are not stuck with an expensive energy contract.

A dynamic energy contract is a form of contract where electricity tariffs change every hour and every day. Rates are always announced a day in advance. Another name for a dynamic energy contract is flexible energy contract.

With a monthly statement, you pay exactly what you consumed in the previous month and at the rate that applied at that time. So at the end of the contract year, you will never have paid too little or too much. Since you no longer pay an advance, you also do not risk losing paid advances should the energy supplier go bankrupt.

FCR – aFFR – mFRR

How does the FCR market work?

When frequency deviations occur, e.g. due to a power plant outage, the Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) automatically intervenes throughout the synchronous zone within seconds to restore the supply-demand balance.

aFRR is Belgium’s second electricity reserve. These reserves – three in total – are used by Belgium’s TSO, Elia, to balance the electricity grid.

How does aFRR work and what types are there?
Regulation capacity can be provided in two ways: up-regulating aFRR feeds additional power to the grid, down-regulating aFRR draws power from the grid. To be more precise, an upward regulating aFRR ensures the return of energy to the grid in case of a power shortage.

mFRR is Belgium’s tertiary electricity reserve. These reserves – three in total – are used by the TSO, Elia, to balance its electricity grid. After FCR and aFRR, mFRR is used to manually restore the power grid frequency.

How does mFRR work and what types are there?
Control power can be provided in two ways: up-regulating aFRR feeds additional power to the grid, down-regulating mFRR draws power from the grid. To be more precise, an upward regulating mFRR ensures the return of energy to the grid in case of a power shortage.
